Adhimathuram Podi – English name: Liquorice Powder

Adhimathuram is a cultivated Liquorice plant hailed for its medicinal properties. It is commonly called as sweetwood. Adhimathuram is called as Mulethi in Hindi. In Tamil Nadu, we call it as ‘Adhimathuram ‘ or ‘Athimathuram’. Common usage of Adhimathuram is treating cough and cold. It is also helpful in treating dandruff. Licorice root helps to brighten the skin and disperse the pigment. Ayurveda encourages its use for treating many conditions such as leprosy, blood impurity, ulcers, alexiteric, diuretic and aphrodisiac conditions.
